Boy it is good to be home and this was a fun weekend with a whole lot of volleyball. We got to play four matches this weekend, which sounds like a lot now that we're in college, but we were all laughing on Saturday remembering how in club we'd play 4-6 matches a day for three days in a row and act like it was nothing. Now we have to really `rest up' if we have two matches in a day. Anyhow, the matches were fun, and we did a lot of good things as well as a lot of not so good things, which is normal for this time of year. We've got a lot of work to do, but this team is having a whole lot of fun putting in the work. It's an awesome group of people and we're all excited for what's ahead.
Preseason is a lot of fun, especially since we haven't started school yet. We get a lot of time to just focus on volleyball and spend time watching movies, cooking, eating, watching movies, (our house doesn't have cable yet so we watch a lot of movies!), playing games, more movies, hanging out at the lake, and anything else that doesn't require too much concentration. Watching football is also a big favorite of this team, so we really enjoyed this weekend. When our Huskies played Oklahoma Saturday we all watched it in our team room before our own game. They fought hard and it was a fun game to watch. Tonight we had a birthday party BBQ for Alesha Deesing because her b-day was Sunday...the big 21. It's weird how fast you go from 18 to 21 once you get on campus, seems like yesterday I was playing against her in club...not to get all sappy or anything, I'm just saying.
We leave Wednesday for Fresno for our last preseason tournament, and then the real games begin. The Pac-10 is so awesome this year, like every year, and I know we're really excited to get two good matches every weekend. I think every good athlete wants to play an opponent who has the strength to take them down, and if you don't bring it every night in the Pac-10, you will get beat. That's why it's such a great conference. Of course we need to get better this weekend first and then we will go from there.
I have to go to bed because I have to go to the dentist in the morning. See ya soon!
Player fact of the week: Stevie Mussie ate at Nasai Teriyaki 4 days in a row last week, and it probably would have been more if we didn't have games all weekend. Solid Stevie, solid.
